Historical Background

The ACME Clicker No. 470 gained historic importance during the Normandy invasion (D-Day) on 6 June 1944. Allied airborne troops used specially issued brass clickers as a covert audio identification signal in darkness. A single click was answered by a double click, allowing friendly forces to recognize each other silently behind enemy lines. Remarkably, this clicker is still produced today using the original tooling and presses.
