Pinguin Fold Alu is an ultra-lightweight, foldable foam mattress designed for reliable thermal insulation, durability, and versatility in outdoor environments. Featuring a reflective aluminium surface and corrugated IXPE foam construction, it delivers high comfort at a very low weight, making it ideal for trekking, camping, bushcraft, and expedition use.
Lightweight insulation with reflective heat layer
The aluminium reflective layer on the top surface reflects radiated body heat back toward the user, improving thermal comfort in cold or damp conditions. For optimal insulation, always sleep on the silver reflective side. With an estimated thermal resistance of R-value 2, the Fold Alu provides effective ground insulation without added bulk.
Durable, moisture-resistant foam construction
The mattress is made from IXPE (radiation cross-linked polyethylene) foam, a tough and long-lasting material that resists moisture, cracks, punctures, burns from embers, and general wear. Because it does not inflate, damage such as cuts or burns does not affect its insulating performance or comfort.
Compact folding design and easy transport
The corrugated folding design increases comfort while reducing overall weight and packed size. When folded, the mattress packs down to 53 × 13.5 × 13 cm. Thanks to its low weight and water resistance, it can be easily attached to the outside of a backpack using the included elastic bands, without limiting internal pack space.
Versatile use beyond sleeping
In addition to its primary function as a sleeping pad, the Fold Alu can be used as a seat cushion (fully or partially folded), a moisture barrier, a low seat pad, or a shortened mattress with built-in cushion support. This versatility makes it a practical choice for minimalist and multi-purpose outdoor setups.
