At Lynxgear, we are constantly expanding the range of Vega Holster products because the pistol carrying systems and holsters developed by this Italian manufacturer are not only reliable in use but also adapted to diverse needs. In this informational article, we provide an overview of the most common pistol carrying positions and the holsters offered by Vega Holster, some of which are available in the Lynxgear store.
Vega Holster has established a lasting place in Lynxgear’s assortment for two main reasons. First, Vega Holster offers an extensive range of pistol carrying systems—from simple holsters to complex, multi-level safety holsters designed for different requirements, utilizing various materials and additional accessories to enhance the personal weapon carrying experience. Second, Vega Holster’s products allow users to customize their pistol carrying setup extensively to suit their roles in security agencies.
Pistol Carrying Positions
The most common pistol holster carrying positions differ depending on the task at hand. These include the following:
1. On the right side (on the left for left-handed users); concealed carry or uniform carry on the right side of the body (left side for left-handed users).
2. On the left side for cross-draw (on the right for left-handed users); concealed carry.
3. Behind the back at an angle; concealed carry.
4. Behind the back horizontally; concealed carry.
5. Inside the waistband; concealed carry.
6. Shoulder strap system with the pistol in a horizontal/vertical/inverted position under the armpit; concealed carry or uniform use.
7. Above the ankle; concealed carry.
8. On the thigh; worn with uniforms or tactical clothing.
9. Attached to the side of bulletproof vests or tactical vests with uniform or tactical gear.
Pistol Carrying Systems
Over time, the needs of security personnel have become increasingly diverse and specific, especially regarding ways and positions for carrying weapons. That’s why Vega Holster has developed a series of loops and platforms called the V.C.S.P. "VEGA CARRY SYSTEMS PROGRAM." The image above shows the relationship between the beltline and the weapon's position in the holster. Each positioning system below is assigned an IP, or position identifier. The identifier is divided into five levels:
IP+2: In this configuration, the pistol grip is positioned very high relative to the belt, making it particularly suitable for concealed carry and ensuring maximum discretion.
IP+1: With the pistol grip positioned relatively high above the belt, this option is ideal for use in vehicles. It prevents the weapon from pressing against the seat, thus avoiding potential dangerous situations or difficulties in drawing the weapon.
IP0: The pistol grip is at the same height as the beltline. This is the standard system for carrying pistols with uniforms, offering an optimal balance between ease of drawing and wearer comfort.
IP-1: This configuration lowers the weapon’s grip below the beltline, making it easier for quick access. It is a suitable choice for those needing immediate access to their firearm without delays.
IP-2: In this position, the weapon’s grip is placed significantly below the beltline, offering a partial thigh configuration. It ensures very quick and natural weapon draw, ideal for situations requiring instant response.
