The Peltonen M95 Ranger Puukko is an authentic Finnish field knife originally designed in 1995 for military use by Juha-Pekka Peltonen. Built as a dependable tool for soldiers, outdoorsmen and demanding field conditions, it combines Finnish puukko tradition with modern military practicality.
This version features a black Cerakote-coated 80CrV2 carbon steel blade, a durable TPE handle, and a versatile composite EasyLock sheath designed for multiple carry positions.
The M95 Ranger Puukko was developed for the Finnish military and has been used for decades by soldiers, professionals and outdoor users who need a reliable knife rather than a decorative piece. Its design reflects real service requirements: strength, secure grip, practical carry options and dependable performance in difficult weather.
The blade is made from 80CrV2 carbon steel, a steel known for toughness, resilience and ease of sharpening in the field. It offers a very good balance of strength, edge retention and practical maintenance.
The blade is robust enough for heavy-duty outdoor tasks, yet thin enough at the edge to provide very good cutting performance.
The black Cerakote coating protects the carbon steel from corrosion and reduces light reflection. It also gives the knife a smooth, durable surface suited to field use.
Please note: the manufacturer advises avoiding food preparation use with coated blades if the coating becomes worn.
The handle is made from TPE, a rubber-like material chosen for grip, comfort and resistance to harsh conditions. It offers secure handling even in cold, wet and demanding environments.
The curved butt end improves grip security during pushing, pulling and controlled cutting movements.
One of the standout features of the M95 Ranger Puukko is the innovative EasyLock composite sheath. It was developed for secure carry in military environments, including upside-down carry, while still allowing quick and quiet one-handed deployment.
The knife sits securely in the sheath without rattling, while still remaining fast and intuitive to deploy.
The M95 Ranger Puukko is designed as a real working knife for outdoor, tactical and utility use. It is suitable for a wide range of tasks where reliability matters more than appearance.

This knife is a sharp cutting tool intended for responsible adult use. Improper use may result in injury.
The manufacturer advises avoiding food contact with worn Cerakote-coated blades. If the coating becomes visibly damaged or worn, the knife should no longer be used for food preparation.
Juha-Pekka Peltonen served in the Finnish Army and later in multiple UN missions, including Cyprus, Sinai, Lebanon and Kashmir. The idea behind the M95 was born from real field experience and the desire to create a robust military knife that combined Finnish knife-making tradition with modern operational requirements.
That original concept became the M95 Sissipuukko, now known internationally as the M95 Ranger Puukko.
