Axiostat® 8×8 cm Haemostatic Patch

The Axiostat® Haemostatic Patch (8×8 cm) is a sterile, single-use, non-absorbable haemostat designed for the temporary control of moderate to severe bleeding in emergency and trauma situations. Developed with Protonated Bioadhesive Polymer Technology (PBT®), it uses the natural bioadhesive properties of 100% chitosan to stop bleeding quickly by adhering to tissue and forming a robust seal. Unlike coated dressings, Axiostat is protein-free, non-allergenic, and leaves no debris in the wound. Lightweight and vacuum-sealed, it is a trusted solution for combat, emergency medicine, and prehospital care.

How It Works

Axiostat works on a unique charge-based mechanism of mucoadhesion:

1. Compression: Applied directly to the wound site.
2. Charge-based adhesion: Positively charged chitosan molecules bind to negatively charged blood cells.
3. Plasma sorption: Rapid absorption of plasma concentrates clotting factors.
4. Platelet activation: Promotes platelet activation and fibrin mesh formation.
5. Haemostasis: Creates a strong barrier that halts bleeding faster than the natural clotting cascade.

At physiological pH, the patch detaches easily, ensuring atraumatic removal.
